bye for now, avast!

Hi, Now I’m going to test out new ESET smart security 5 and then I’ll see if i will buy it or come back to avast 6 free… so bye for now avast!

so! I see very nice things that I’d love to see in avast! eg. very nice task scheduler and cloud technology! nice things!

Avast is not any kind of dictatorship. Its a democracy. You can choose to use it or not use it. Nothing is forced on anyone.

I hope you come back though but consumers are king in any market economy.

Make sure next time before you use avast again, uninstall ESET with its uninstall tool

Oh, hello! Now, I think, we are in one club. Club of people who switched to ESET products.

Good luck on getting support in the Wilders Security Forums: ::slight_smile:

The support here is excellent!

 you mean it in ignoric way right? lol

ESET is doing better than avast in “real world” tests.

That’s true. :frowning: And now, ESET 5 is more better.

Eset is good…thats the payoff for selling your soul and having a company run by robots

No one wants to wait for the Avast! Pirate Robots to debut :'(…thats okay, you guys will learn, when the Avast! Pirate Robots come out and squash ESET’s cold and unfeeling mascots.

okay, its just a concept drawing, the final product will be much more polished ;D

Oh no…I’ve seen IRobot…no way ;D ;D

I’m planning that I return to avast! if 7 released and good, so I’m waiting for it.
Will it really have robot symbols or “drawings”?

ESET is usually good. I was glad not to see any creepy robot images in the ESS 5 beta. Have they added them to the release?

LOL mutant of ESET & Avast… robots = eset, pirates = avast 6. robots+pirates= avast 7 !!!

Well… detection rate is much better in ESET… but avast is better equipped. Avast has sandbox, autosandbox, safezone, script shield, behavior shield, webrep [which dont often work] boot time scan etc… ESET has just system rescue. ESET can’t protect you on Instant Messengers (ESET4 could not. ESET5 can or not?).

ESET has stupid gaming mode. I have started Browser and eset warning bubble still annoys me that I have silent gaming turned on (lol wtf). Also on VM it was annoying me that i dont have windows updates.

Another thing that i dont like in ESET is scan speed… avast whole system scan takes about 1-2 hours on avast. In ESET I had to wait 4 hours for 66% of scan. Also ESET freezed 2x times. And the best thing is memory usage… ESET service: 77.492 mb, ESET gui: 4,600mb. Avast service: 3-7mb, avast gui: 1mb LOL

But I can now get to websites like gamershell and bit.ly and eset is silent  also popups are much smaller in eset and dont have bug when virus popup is with empty action.

And I want to ask - is ESET’s healing/treating better than avast’s repair?

all I can say is good luck,You can choose to use it or not use it. Nothing is forced on anyone.

No idea. Test it.

Yes, ESET’s detection is much higher, unfortunately. I would be happy if I couldn’t tell it, because I still like avast!.
ESET hasn’t got an IM Shield, yes. But it does scan files that attempts to get into the system, or processes that attempts to creat a new files, so your instant messaging is protected (but not by a seperated shield).

I would be happy if avast! 7 had a lot smaller pop-ups. I like if the AV informs the user about the porcess (I miss it in ESET), but I think it shouldn’t be shown for everybody, because a beginner can’t understand it… So I suggest to hide it under an “advanced” button.

ESET’s memory usage is so high. It is like in avast! 4.8
But I don’t realize any slowdowns with ESET, with its higher settings. avast! slowed down my PC with the highest (I think) settings.

To say something wrong about ESET: it updates only two or three times a day! I find it unaccaptable in a pad product. In avast!, I could accept it: it’s a free product. Among free products, only one update per day is usually, so avast! is overperform them with the two. Okay… I can accept ESET’s two/three updates, because I didn’t pay for it, I use it with codes from magazines.

Sorry for my English.

avast! Internet Security had also 2-3 updates per day so updating is same in both.

Hi danny96,

Does not the avast shields make the difference for us? I have experiences with avast webpage malscript flagging in the virus and worms and almost daily scanning all against it but the kitchen sink and it is awfully accurate as I put it out to the test all the time all of the time. I hope some users here like what I am doing?
The avast sinkhole and web rep database is also fastly developing and they have some new tools in the pipeline as I have heard. I can “think” avast now a bit better than other av solutions and their blind spots, and I mostly like what I experience. But there are lots of folks that switch av from time to time as others switch firewalls. I have avast as my main resident solution, added by SAS free and MBAM free, Bitdefender QuickScan inside my GoogleChrome browser, NotScripts in browser security, flawed with a bit of my own common sense and my avast forum experiences, and I feel quite happy and secure,

polonus (avast evangelist)

Yep.
