Avast keeps complaining about this file. It says there is nothing wrong with it but it keeps poping up information messages about the file. The popups show up every 15 to 20 seconds and nothing stops them. OKing the sandboxing does nothing.
I eventually found that RMB on the file let me choose “Always run in sandbox”.
This is only happening on 1 computer.
I guess this isn’t a question but if anyone has insight to this problem I’d appreciate hearing it.
I believe avast! is correct to be suspicious of it, even though it isn’t in its conventional virus definitions, a google search on the file name has it associated with malware.
Is it just the autosandbox that was intercepting this file ?
If there are multiple detections on virustotal - Send the sample/s to avast as a Undetected Malware:
Open the chest and right click in the Chest and select Add, navigate to where you have the sample and add it to the chest (see image). Once in the chest, right click on the file and select ‘Submit to virus lab…’ complete the form and submit, a link to this topic might help. The file will be uploaded during the next update. Note: manually adding to the chest doesn’t remove them from the original location, so they still have to be dealt with in that location.
Or
Send the sample to virus (at) avast (dot) com zipped and password protected with the password in email body, a link to this topic might help and false positive/undetected malware in the subject.
It rather depends on if the file is active on the other systems.
Something has to be running this file, for the file system shield to scan it and since it considers it somewhat suspect though doesn’t match a conventional virus signature it effectively calls the autosandbox to check it also.
Since you have it on other systems on the network, have you any clue what it is ?
As the greatest majority of the search hits I got associated it with malware.
