If you’re talking about the program “CA Antispyware”, there could well be conflict as both have real-time scanning. Do you also have CA Antivirus as well?
Update to the latest version of avast, 4.8.1195 and this should trouble you no more.
The problem would appear that CA anti-spyware is opening avast files with write permission and the avast self-defence module doesn’t like that, so it reports the fact and downgrades the file access to read only.
These notifications will no longer be displayed I believe as there is no action the user can take to resolve it. e.g. they can’t stop CA anti-spyware opening the file with write permission and they can’t stop avast protecting its files without disabling the self-defence module.
i have avast 4.8.1169
where can i get the update to 4.8.1195??
Right click on the avast icon in the tray > Updating > Program Update
avast uses a staggered rollout to the user community for avast program updates and normally you would either get an automatic update or a green pop-up telling you a new version is available (depending on your personal settings). Above is a way to manually request immediate update.
tnx i had updated my avast now ;D
I take it from the smiley ;D, having updated to 4.8.1195 that your original question is also resolved ?
Welcome to the forums.
I was getting essentially the same warnings about modifying avast files (from Comodo’s Defense+) if I opened Process Explorer to see what was running. If I remember correctly, someone here said the best guess was that it was simply updating the last-accessed directory entry, and even that counted as a suspicious write.
