My computer will cut off some times in windows only. No warning other
than my drives will light up and then it just shuts down.
It does not do it in dos mode. I have tested the memory and replaced one
bad module, “thanks to some one here suggesting that I had memory
issues”
I ran a memtest in dos and I can do a virus scan in dos and the computer will
run forever. I can’t do a full virus scan in Windows because it will shut off.
I have several Trojans and worms. For some reason I thought Avast would remove the virus but I see now that I need the professional version for removal.
It puts these viruses in the chest but they continue to open up and add them.
Due to finances I am unable at this time to purchase pro.
Will it actually clean all these Trojans and worms “pro” or will I need to do a complete reformat and reinstall every thing.
What is weird about it to me is that when I restart I do not get any error
messages either. It’s as if it shuts down properly but it does it so fast that
you don’t have time to save any thing.
It’s like the zip drive light will flash and as soon as that happens I have
less than a second to respond.
It could, of course, be caused by many different things… . but I would try the
bios update. I used to work in a laptop support dept and we saw this problem
with Toshiba’s quite often. The bios update always cured it… its worth a try
edit: I do not want to sound as though I believe this is the only problem
You mention you have several trojans and worms? I would also use Google
and check on the specific trojans/worms you have and see what you can find
out about them… Probably not a bad idea to allso run Spybot, Ad Aware, and
HiJack This as well
