okey here’s the thing : never had any problems i couldn’t fix but yesterday i approved an update (service pack 3 & java-update) now i aborted the service pack update and my pc started acting weird. every game/video/graphic/… i try to open my screen starts blinking on, out, on, out and it takes a wile to recover and nothing i can do about it. suddenly every shield and other security has been disabled and i cannot activate it, pressed it 100 times, it won’t start. i even tried many times (systeemherstel) system recovery, couple times in safe mode and tried the previous working settings… nothing!! does anyone know what went wrong cause my pc is totally fucked up… ???

i think it was service pack 3, it was asking it for a long time so i finally did the update but it took so damn long i aborted the action… think that was a big mistake… :-\

when i open avast the main screen says : system unsecured, all disabled, press start to activate but won’t work, on my shield-screen it says : protection state ; unknown and everythings 's down (however when i open my mails in messenger it sometimes says, … not approved by smartscreenfilter, poss a threath… weird

Yes, you should update your XP to SP3.
You also should update your avast! to 6.0.1367 afterwards.
1.) okey, i wish i could fix that screen problem i have since yesterday, cannot play anything anymore (it opens but it’s like a stroboscope, to fast to even see a thing. strange, what has this to do with that update (i aborted)(and the latest java update…java now with wow-approvements and shit - yeah i can see XD lol) do you maybe know what causes it my friend?

Repair avast!:
- Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → avast!
- Scroll down and click on ‘Repair’.
- Follow instructions.
- Reboot.
okey, i’m downloading the sp3 update, when it’s done i’ll remove avast and i’ll reboot
The instructions are to REPAIR avast! not remove it.

My best friend, thank you so much for the help, i had to reboot 5 times and had to start safe mode for the actions to take place but my avast is finally fixed and fully working, did the service pack 3 update and now i hope my screen is also fixed, gonna try it out now. i wish you a very nice day and the best for 2012
