???can someone help me please? I did a scan this morning with Avast4 but now i am getting a message saying
unable to scan file C:\Document and Settings\new user\Local Settings\Temp.…\Data1.cab This file is a decompression bomb.
Can anyone tell me what this means and what I should do?
Just clear your temp folders.
The decompression bomb is probably a very poor description, something from a long time ago when malicious practice used to heavily compress a file so that it was quite small but when uncompressed was very large and in old systems with low resources, etc. it could crash the system.
So it just means that when uncompressed this file would be very large, many .cab (cabinet) files will be vary large.
Files that can’t be scanned are just that, not an indication they are suspicious/infected, just unable to be scanned.
Oh OK Ty so if it goes to one of my more needed programs it isn’t needed to delete it right?
It is in the Temp folder so if it were essential, I would have thought it would be in a permanent folder.
ClearProg - Temp File Cleaner or CCleaner - Temp File Cleaner, etc.

No problem, glad I could help.
You might want to change your avatar for another, resize or use this one, a little smaler. We try to keep avatars around 100 X 100 for those who don’t have high resolution monitors.
