can anyone help me with removal of a virus?

i have been getting from avast warnings that a Win32;Trojano-350 virus is in my computer … how do i get rid of it?

In order to help we need more information.

What OS?
What version of Avast?
What file is detected as infected?
What is its location?

etc etc.

my husband downloaded this version this past weekend… how do io tell which version it is?

Right click the blue ball > choose About Avast

OS = Operating System (windows, freebsd, linux, unix etc)

You can see the name and location of the file(s) in the avast log file.
Normally in c:\program files\alwil software\avast4\data\log\

You can open the log files with any textediter

sorry about that i am not really puter duhhh… this is just puzzling me … windows xp is my system and avast version 4.1 home version…ok feeling duhh still …when i ran the scan earlier i deleted 3 files that were infected but then it came up with a windows file that was infected and i was afraid to delete that one i am trying to find out the name of the files it had infected …i have the warning log but it doesn’t have the full name of the file on it

Don’t panic. That “windows” file as you say it is more likely just the malware itself and has placed itself in the windows folder.

If it easier for you, just copy and paste the log here or attach it to your message so we can have a look.

C\WINDOWS\wudpt.exe
this is the last file it warned about

hope this works this is the whole log

Yup worked like a charm.

ok, now let us remove it.

  • Disable system restore (INFO on how to do it)
  • Reboot
  • Run a boottime scan with Avast (start Avast > Menu > plan bootscan) Avast will ask you to reboot, say yes and let it scan.

Come back here when you’ve done this and let us know.

ok done that … only had 1 file come up as being infected and it was c\WINDOWS\polmicZ.exe

oops c\WINDOWS\polmicZ.exe
that should have been C|WINDOWS|polmxZ.exe(can’t read my own writing…lol :-[
