??? I couldnt find this…Is there a way for the program to not run at all, ie. to unload (exit) from memory? Not just the “On-Access Protection”, but the entire program? I don’t want to uninstall it, but I need to check if Avast is causing me other problems and I need to exit that program but am not able to see how.
Thanks
I think this is by design… to avoid corruption while unloading absolutely necessary processes for the system to work.
Anyway, you can kill the avast! services running (the ones that began with ash…exe or asw…exe into Task Monitor.
Look, doing this, some things could not work (for instance, receive and send mail, etc.). The best way to test, as it designed for, is disabling avast! providers and not killing them.
You may also be able to use msconfig to untick the startup entries for avast!, reboot, do your tests and tick them again.
Or if you are running XP open the services manager and disable the avast processes, reboot, do your tests and enable them again.
