Can avast do the good job alone ?

???

Hi There avast Forum !

I just wonder … Can avast do the job alone ? - I mean : Is it needed to install other software programmes besides avast?
Like anti-malware and anti spyware programmes? - I have the latest avst Free. The one with the orange ball.

So do avast fix both virus and malware+spyware+trojans

Greetings to you all and happy Weekend from me in Copenhagen, denmark

Hi, I use comodo firewall and malwarebyte both free and spywareblaster and they all seem to get along well.

Hi tjunk, avast does scan for malware+spyware+trojans but it is always good to add some extra protection and one of the best tools out there is malwarebytes and for the small fee of $25 you get the life time license for the pro version or just stick with the manual scanning of the free, another good addition is winpatrol which will monitor your host file and alert you to any changes in your system.
You have not mentioned what version of windows you are running which can be beneficial for further advice.
Also a good firewall can be useful to, especially if you running xp as it’s firewall defences are quite pathetic, vista is not much better and win 7 is alot better but still without outbound protection, good firewall’s are privatefirewall (very strong and probably the lightest firewall there is), online armor (also strong and very simple but a little heavyer), outpost firewall (very good and light also, has good review’s but i have not used this one, there are several member’s on the forum that do) comodo (used to be good but has become very bloated and heavy, plus it has always been a difficult firewall to setup).
That will get you started

HI use malwarebyte free, I use Windows firewall, I use Windows Defender that comes with windows Vista, and I also use avast free. As long as you keep all these things updated frequently everything works fine with avast free as well
have a great day tjunk.

and of course rootkits+exploits

Comodo Firewall does take a bit of study but the time invested pays off. You can leave it to protect you ‘out-of-the-box’ and it’ll also provide realtime malware ‘behavioural’ defense as well as a firewall.
You can be as tweaky as you feel comfortable with–e.g. if you want to block app downloads slipping past just add “*exe” to your user temp IE folder path to ‘blocked files’ – and there’s an active support forum like this one.

Works problem-free with Avast Antivirus. But there’s a whole load of alternatives!

Hey !

Thanks to you all for the fine answers & have a good sunday
