Can avast free automatically renew the license in an OFFLINE PC?

hi, I wrote my question on the title
The last time my license was expired, avast free COULDN’T be able to register for the new license because there was no internet and all the shields were completely disabled → I had to grab a cable to get the internet for registration → this is not convenient. The license website no longer allows me to download a license file

How is the situation now in v17.9?

I still got my Internet router connected to my computer. That means I will be able to renew my license for my subscription for Avast! Free Antivirus before it expires on March 7th this year.

Offline versions of Avast Free will auto-register automatically, there may be a case that the program states that it has expired but protection should still be running and certainly the shields should not disable. I think its 14 days after expiration on offline installations when it automatically renews. I’ll get that checked with the Avast team and post back when I get a reply.

Yes, it’s good to know about renewing my expiration date for my subscription for Avast! Free Antivirus. I will renew my subscription and re-activate my antivirus software to make sure that my computer is protected from all viruses every day. After the last 30 days, my computer will know how to renew my expiration date to get another year of 365 days with some extra days, too.

I installed a free version on an old laptop, laptop has a faulty wireless adapter so I resorted downloading the offline installer. Now I got 30 days remaining for the registration. How can I register offline?

Yes, indeed. Just like the one I used it to renew my expiration date for my registration for Avast! Free Antivirus from May 2016. It’s so good to have my computer protected from viruses every day. I can’t wait to renew my expiration date before it expires on March 7th this year. So lucky to do that soon. =)

Even an off-line system should eventually renew automatically (I believe it is 14 days after expiry) and it should continue to protect during that period.

What I can’t see is how you intend to keep virus definitions up to date if you have no internet connection, short of downloading the full virus definitions file (using a system that is on-line).

However, faulty wireless adapter shouldn’t mean no connection, what about using a network cable.

okay, here is the truth I just saw by my own eyes
I visited my friend who I installed avast a year ago. Currently, his laptop is running v17.9

the first thing I noticed was the tray icon had an X → opened the UI → all the shields were off
I checked the subscription status and it was expired. He always has the internet connected 24/7. This means avast free didn’t renew the license

I had to manually activate the new license

In conclusion, the claim from avast that the product will automatically renew its free license is FALSE
I saw 2 of my machines having their licenses expired without being renewed + all the shields were turned off

because of this, I really doubt I would install avast on other PCs, which are not mine because users will be left unprotected after the license expires and they have no clue how to renew it

Please fix this. At least make it usable even after the subscription is over or simply remove the useless yearly subscription as no other AV company does

Well my XP Pro system which was close to the annual bun fight and it is connected directly by network cable to my router/modem and it threw up a notice of expiry 12 days before it was due.

I confirmed the level of protection I wanted and followed through and I got another 365 days plus what remained.

my friends and family would probably click the X to close the windows
they are really basic users
this is my concern to install avast for this kind of users because they will ignore everything and focus only on web browsing, word, excel

Dear Avast users,

I have this kind of problem but I cannot renew manually the licence. It does not run properly. So, I usually use the registration form to get a licence key. But it does not run too. Is there solution please ?

Kind regards, Philippe D.

Guess what? Tofay, I re-activated Avast! Free Antivirus for another year of 365 days with extra days. Now my computer is finally protected from all computer viruses.

Dear Avast users,

I do not know why but my Avast has been re-activated automatically till the 07th may 2018.

So, see you later. Kind regards, Philippe D.

It was never NOT protected. It was ALWAYS protected.
