Can Avast stop nagging about upgrading to paid version?

I use Avast free because I chose that. Frequently I receive those message boxes for pushing upgrade to paid version. Once, after installation, or close to the registration expiration, it is fine. But frequently, as it happens, the inoffensive message box becomes an annoyance.

How do I disable it permanently?

Otherwise, can Avast please stop annoying us?

hey could you give us a picture of that upgrading.

the only time avast needs a upgrade is when a new version i out or you need to registry a new 1 year license. in the free version witch it does when it is about 30 or 25 days left on your superscription.

I am using version 4.8. Yet.

This is the annoying and intrusive pop up that shows probably hourly.

If you want to see it in action, create a virtual machine (with VMWare Player or Workstation), instal version 4.8, insert your free registration, update it, and let it run for a while. then it pops up, frequently.

Hummm, Just a thought, I think that that popup is trying to tell you that there is an update to the free veresion that you are now using. Not to have you update to a paid version… Check it out, Your version just might be yesterdays version… Again, just a thought …

Baron, or

Barman…

Avast 4.8 really is on life support and is very soon to have support for 4.8 terminated. This has been the case for some time now.

So you have to update to a later free version of avast (the column on the left of the image), the only issue is what is your Operating system ?

If it is win9.x the later versions of avast aren’t compatible with the older win9.x OS.

Indeed. However, I have changed the configuration for program update to manual, hence, that should not appear. My subscription is not expiring anytime soon, so there’s no need to nag, other than trying to sell their new, paid version.

True, I could simply update to the free version of the new version indeed. However, this new version has this absurd problem that persists since the earliest of versions 7! In fact, the operating system is not the problem. I use XP and 7, both can run the latest version. I already did install the latest version, but I restored back the drive image to continue using the version 4.8. Please see:

This is my sinlge complaint about the new version. Do you have a solution for this problem? Can you get Avast to correct it? Can you answer this post?

Thanks.
