Can boot-time scan be a substitute for scan local disks?

Can boot-time scan be a substitute for scan local disks?
I mean, what if whenever i’ve to scan my system, i just go for boot-time scan straightaway, and not bother about scanning local disks. Will that do?
(I’ve asked this in one of my threads, but didn’t get any reply. So i decided to put this question as a new topic.)

I wouldn’t recommend that.
First, the boot-time scan is not very comfortable (in the sense that you cannot work with the computer while the scan is running), second the boot-time scanner is limited, compared to the ordinary one (not all archives are supported, the actions on infected files are also somehow limited, etc.)
So, I’d go for the boot-time scan after some infection was found & dealt with by the ordinary scanner, to clean the possible hard-to-remove items.
