can i do this ??!!

 hey everyone

how are you

i want to ask anyone who is expert in this Qs types:

i heard from my friend that is the windows firewall is a weak ??? , so then imust install another one , is that true ???

if that true then how about installing ZONEALARM FIREWALL with AVAST , are that tow programs compatible

and if they are compatible , should i turn off WINDOWS FIREWALL when i install ZONEALARM FIREWALL

and if they arent , what is the best firewall program is compatible with avast

What operating system are you using? Do you also have a router that
has built-in hardware protection?

The typical 30-50$ Firewall might have some easier to use controls
however they also usually have compatiability issues that the windows
firewall does not have.

So unless you have special needs stick with the windows firewall. If you
need more protection add a router with it builtin.

It’s not weak, just that don’t add special protection, outbound protection, bells and whistles.
It’s an inbound firewall. Works good.

Yes.

Yes, two firewalls will conflict,

Hi Sameeer…

Tech nailed it on the head with the above comment. I’ve run my Windows firewall (Vista Home Premium x64) through this site here a minute ago…

EDIT: I provided a screenshot of the results. It’s been a while since I’ve done this so I had to look up how. ;D

When I used Windows XP on my last system, I ran it through this site…

I don’t know about Windows XP, but I thought I heard somewhere that you could manually configure Vista’s firewall to watch outbound traffic as well.

Best Regards…

Actually in Vista there is outbound protection however you have to be using the
advanced interface. Start - type in Firewall -select Firewall with Advanced Security.

You’ll agree that it is everything but intuitive, simple, easy to use, etc. etc.

Yes its not simple however I have never had an incompatiability issue with the
built-in Vista Firewall… the 30-50$ Software firewalls are rarely a true bargain.
Use the money to buy a router with hardware protection instead. Very few need
more than what Windows Firewall offers and those that do need to buy a real
quality firewall.

Fully agree.
This is why I love freewares

;D ;D ;D thanks to everyone ;D ;D ;D

Hi Sameeer…

You’re welcome, I hope we were helpful.
