Can I freeze my subscription?

So I have over 1 year left of Avast IS.

However, on Windows 10, Avast locks up and takes 12-25% of my CPU. This causes my laptop to RUN SUPER HOT.

I want to remove avast for a few months until the bugs are worked out. I am up-to-date on the latest version and tried a clean install after using iOrbit uninstaller 5 (the newest one).

I also have a decent rig. I have the Yoga 2 Pro with a 256 gb SSD, i7, 8 gb DDR3 ram.

So is there a way to freeze the subscription? I don’t want to lose it, however, I simply cannot use my computer with Avast installed.

Avast works very well on my windows 10… Did you use the avast uninstall tool ?

Download Avast Uninstall Utility to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast
Avast Free
Avast Pro
Avast Internet Security
Avast Premier
Disconnect from the net
Uninstall Avast via control panel

[]Run the uninstall tool and accept the reboot to safe mode
[
]Once complete reboot your system
[*]Reinstall Avast

I ran that tool after my iOrbit uninstaller.

I guess I have a program Avast does not like. I don’t know what it could be. I did have similar problems on Windows 8.1, however, it was NEVER THIS BAD.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks Chief.

Sucks they steal propriety stuff. I don’t use any of their products except for the uninstaller. Do you believe there is a safety concern with their uninstaller?

Also, do you have an answer to my main question?

There is safety issues when using anything from a distrustful company.

Avast as well as most other AV’s have their own uninstallers which should always be used.

Essexboy answered your main question, a clean install is the preferred method using the Avast clean tool.

hmm .... Chinese software company you cant trust, who know what else can be bundled in that software ;)

I already mentioned I used that tool after iorbit. I have tried a clean install several times. Is there any other advice you guys can offer?

Guess it is time to uninstall it.

Any replacement? I am trying to limit dependency on Avast. Revo was too basic. Any suggestions?
