Can I have Ransomware protect directories recursively?

Say I’ve got

D:\PICS\2010\Dir1*.JPG
D:\PICS\2010\Dir2*.JPG

D:\PICS\2015.…
D:\PICS\2016.…
D:\PICS\2017.…

I’d like RansomWare Shield to protect ALL of these directories. In fact, everything under D:\PICS I want protected. Do I have to enter every directory individually? This would take me hours and I’d have to remember to add new directories as I create them (which is very often; I’m an amateur photographer and I keep each shoot in a different directory).

Thanks for any help!

Use the wildcard(s) to set the exclusion for the image folders.

I'd like RansomWare Shield to protect ALL of these directories.
You do have a external backup also?

The Ransomware Shield (RS) only allows user input of directories in the paid versions of avast, presumably you are using Avast Internet Security or avast Premier ?

If so I would have thought that wild-card use would include sub-directories - e.g. D:\PICS*

What I would suggest is a robust backup and recovery strategy (hard disk imaging software) over and above RS is to make regular drive image backups, preferably to an external hard drive. This caters for a lot more issues than RS, I do a regularly weekly scan and keep copies of the last 6 backups.

In addition, keep a copy of the drive (image) as well as recent backups not only in your home but also somewhere else.

A drive image/backup you have at your home won’t help you if e.g. there is a burglary or even worse the house burns down.

The Ransomware Shield protects all sub-folders of the folders which the user has selected by default.

Thanks for the clarification.
