can i hide the avast notification icon?

hi there, I have installed avast! on my Samsung galaxy x3, and have anti-theft enabled.
my phone is not rooted.

one thing that is annoying, is the icon up the top of the screen…
if the phone is stolen, they would just drag down the tray, and see the message “avant is protecting you…”

from what I understood, avant is supposed to be completely silent… this doesn’t look very silent.

I tried turning anti-theft off and on again, but the icon is still there…

is there some way I can hide this icon?
also, the notification comes up for updates when it it outdated too.
this would reveal the protection to a thief as well.

I want avast to actually be HIDDEN.

could someone please help me?

Dear Customer,

the Android OS kills applications when low on memory based on some rules. Those rules state (besides other things) that the more your application is visible the less is the probability the OS will kill it when low on memory.

Your application gets one of the highest visibilities if it has an icon in the on-going notifications.

The notification bar icon can be removed in the avast! Mobile Security’s settings - or switch it to grey.

for further information you can also consult our manual available at:

it will help you understand the basics of the software.
give it a try - it’s short and easy to understand.

hello Werner ,

At one of the setup pages for the anti-theft setup wizard on the phone, i have assigned a custom fake name to the app. I’m on a rooted device so superSU asks me for granting permissions to “Fake_Name” , which i’ve granted.

I’ve also ticked the checkbox on “Enable Anti Theft” , prompted for a restart , which i have done.

However, problems are :

(1) The launcher icon for Avast! is still there.
(2) in my Running Apps monitoring screen i still have Avast! Mobile security being shown as running. I don’t see any signs of “Fake_Name” running.
