I’ve been using Open Office for a while and have been happy with it, but my stepdad bought a copy of Office 2010, and I have used 2007, and like it more than OO, and was wondering if I install it and use the product key on my computer, if he will be unable to install and use it on his.
I would rather think MS would take a dim view of it as they are generally a single system install, unless stated otherwise on the license/product key. Whilst you might well get away with installing it on one system, it would need to be activated I guess.
Install it on a second system and if you have to activate it as I suggested, then it is likely they would detect a duplicate key.
That could have MS either a) block the activation on that system or b) block that product key completely which would also stuff the first installation.
MS are pretty hot on piracy, so expect them to have many levels of protection, like visiting windows/microsoft update checking not only WGA but other MS software installed.
Depends on which one you bought…
