Can I mark files to not be scanned?

I’m really getting fed up with avast marking things like system recover tools as viruses because they contain password dump tools and other things like that. I rarely scan my system, because Avast marks numerous important files as viruses(who thought it’d be a good idea to start calling keygens viruses btw?). I really wish there was an option when the warning pops up to ignore the file, instead of forcing me to rename/move, delete or move to the chest. Can I move files out of the chest?

Other than this really annoying issue, Avast is great, but having it keep flagging and sometimes destroying files I need / want is making AVG look rather tempting.

The ‘Continue’ button should do it.
Or use the Exclusion lists of avast.

For the Standard Shield provider (on-access scanning):
Left click the ‘a’ blue icon, click on the provider icon at left and then Customize.
Go to Advanced tab and click on Add button…

For the other providers (on-demand scanning such as the screen-saver or the Simple User Interface):
Right click the ‘a’ blue icon, click Program Settings.
Go to Exclusions tab and click on Add button…

You can use wildcards like * and ?.
But be careful, you should ‘exclude’ that many files that let your system in danger.

Right click them and restore or extract to other folder.

Your absolutely welcome to join AVG that is your choice, you will pass many coming in this direction since avg 8.0 release.

I have a folder on my system called Excludes imaginatively named I know, in it I have folders for suspect files, virus samples and system tools that would other wise be detected by avast. I have that folder excluded in both the exclusion areas mentioned by Tech.

The problem is with a tool is it can be used for good or evil and avast can’t make that determination so it alerts on them (many times the malware name with have a [Tool] suffix. However, avast doesn’t destroy anything as it requires that you say what action to take over the detection. There is a huge No Action button (but that won’t let it run), send to chest, move/rename, etc. it most certainly doesn’t hit the delete button to destroy the file.

Key generators often come with an additional payload, you are hardly going to complain as they aren’t legal, you hardly need a key generator for free software but to avoid paying for a legit program.
