i did not know that i needed to expressly request that avast manufacture a scan report; i thought it was the default value.
yesterday, i implemented a “thorough scan” of 95GB (2 internal hdd’s and 1 external); it must have taken several hours. i was not there when it completed and the computer had shut off after the completion (i am certain that the computer had not turned off before the completion.)
The home version keeps only the last scanning results, until you boot.
The Professional version keeps all of them (or discard them when you want).
Is there a report here? \DATA\report
i am trying to post a response. the first attempt was rejected because the attached files were too l.arge. when i corrected the problem - by removing the attachments - i am told that i already posted this! how can i now post the response?
PLEASE DISREGARD THIS INSTANT POST … I DISCOVERED THE REMEDY: PLEASE SEE FOLLOWING POST!
Actually, i had checked “LogViewer”; i found nothing under the first 3 categories. But, at your instant suggestion, i decided to open the other categories. You are correct: there were entries under Warnings and Errors.
what should be my strategy wrt the Warning signs of Virtumonde and the other trojan – should i delete the files? can Avast clean it out?
sorry to sound like an idiot: how do i “verbose” the Error logs?
Why is it a bad idea to simply delete the file which manifests evidence of infection? what will be accomplished by sending this file to the Chest?
