I’m getting messages that its time to renew my Avast Pro subscription but the laptop I’m using it on is on its last legs. I have a new laptop that only has free Avast. Can I renew the sub and have it applied to my new laptop and just have free Avast on the old one?
Short answer is YES. It might be easier to let your license expire on the old machine and just purchase a license for the new laptop.
If you can get a good price, get a license for both of them.
Personally I would still do it on the existing system as you may well get a renewal discount on that.
You should get a new license file sent I believe, that can be applied to the old system until such times you use the new laptop. You can apply the license.avastlic to the new laptop installation and remove the installation on the old system so you don’t exceed the number of systems the license is for.
If your old laptop is on its last legs as you say it wouldn’t be worth getting a second license, you never know how long it might last. You could always install avast free on that.
