Hello,

Well, you’re wanting to remove the plugin and keep the computer protected at the same time? ??? How?
You can disabled the plugin into MS Outlook:
Outlook 2007 > Tools > Trust center > Add-inns
If the outlook/exchange provider is terminated and you have the Internet Mail provider enabled then my guess is that emails would be scanned by the Internet Mail provider.
This is however inferior to a specially designed plug-in which means avast is effectively working inside the email client and not outside. This allows avast to scan content that is being sent using SSL/TLS, which the Internet Mail can’t. The Internet Mail provider is also much less flexible/configurable than the outlook/exchange provider.
So in short I feel you would be worse off by doing this and would ask why you want to do this ?
Not if the user keeps using MS Outlook…
I believe Outlook would be treated in the same way as any other pop3 email program if the outlook/exchange provider and plug-in weren’t enabled. I obviously can’t test this as I don’t have or like MS Outlook, but don’t you use it, if so you could test the theory.
No, it wouldn’t work this way.
But if you have Outlook have you tried it (I can’t), because I’m sure I have see this in the forums where MS Outlook is being scanned by the Internet Mail provider.
I’ve tried it… my emails does not get scanned without Stunnel and so on…
I know, I’m using SSL.
Yes I know SSL/TLS won’t be scanned as I mentioned.
This allows avast to scan content that is being sent using SSL/TLS, which the Internet Mail can't.
However, standard pop3 emails should be and that is what I was hoping you could test.
