I got an alert that an infection was stopped, so I ran a full scan and Avast found several ‘infected’ files. Everything comes up under the Virus Chest menu, but when I select files and choose delete I get a pop up saying “Restore infected items?” If I click restore I get the same message. I tried rebooting, and also tried running a new scan. Can anyone explain how to delete the infected files off my computer? I am on a 2009 macbook running Sierra OS. Please help.

Why so quick to delete file(s) from quarantine?
Files in quqrantine can not harm your computer

Avast is still alerting me to an infection, so I want to try and clear the quarantine and see if that helps.
Avast does not detect infections in its own quarantine … (unless a serious bug)
I suggest you post/ask in the Mac forum section where Mac expert @Tumic is
