Hi,
just installed avast successfully (Home edition, Windows XP), but i wonder whether it is normal that only the administrator account of my computer can use it. I mean, when the other users want to run avast they are asked to enter the key, but the key of the administrator account doesn’t work then.
Thanks.
No, it’s not normal. Generally, inserting the key at the account with administrator rights allow the use of avast for all users.
Which version are you using?
Where did you install avast?
The last beta version corrects some ‘permitions’ errors. Maybe you could wait a week for a new release or try the beta
It concerns Avast 4 home edition, installed on windows XP. Everytime a user, other than the administrator, logs in a message pops up saying that the license key is not inserted. Neither can this other user run avast by clicking on the avast icon on his desktop. The administrator has not problems at all.
- Have the user accounts, in any time in the past, administrator rights and then you donwgraded them to common users?
- If you uninstall avast!, boot, enable the Administrator account (not an user with admin rights) and install avast from there, will it work?
How to login as administrator: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/admins.htm - Did you install avast in the default folder or in other one?
Hi
I have the exact same problem. Both me and my wife have administrator accounts (or possible admin rights, but no other administrator account exists). I installed Avast (now 4.8.1351) when logged in on my profile and my wife cannot initiate the program.
Anyone found out why this doesn’t work?
/Jonas
Well, this is a 2006 topic…
Anyway, it’s known that avast does not work well on environments with more than one admin account?
What do you exactly mean with “when logged in on my profile and my wife cannot initiate the program”, are you using more than one user logon at time feature (Win XP/Vista/7)?
