can problems occur if ports used for POP3 and SMTP are blocked?

hello to all, I would like to ask if problems can occur for the Avast anti virus client in as far as sending and receiving information from and to the avast servers, if ports used for POP3 and SMTP are blocked?

Well those ports are only for if your using an installed email client that is being scanned by avast so if you dont have an email client installed then you can disable.

thanks craigb I was under the impression that the avast client uses these ports:

POP3 - port 110
IMAP - port 143
SMTP - port 25

Secure SMTP (SSMTP) - port 465
Secure IMAP (IMAP4-SSL) - port 585
IMAP4 over SSL (IMAPS) - port 993
Secure POP3 (SSL-POP) - port 995

when transmitting data to and from the avast servers.

Only for email.
