Can someone please assist me getting rid of win64:bot-A [ Trj] RSA64.dll?

Hi,

Since yesterday my avast antivirus system blocks a virus called Win64:bot-A [Trj] (RSA64.dll) and it automatically moves it to the virus vault. I scanned my computer with Mbam and at first it found some infections (also in some registry keys). I did delete those with Mbam (the log is attached). After that I did a throughout scan with avast and Mbab again and those cannot find any infections anymore, but avast keeps on blogging that same file. So it should still be somewhere in my system.

Can someone please help me with this issue as I don’t know what to do as I methods I know don’t work. I enclosed the Mbab, OTL and aswMBR logs (as required in the help/information section of this forum).

Thanks!

PS: Just before I wanted to press send my avast did block another virus which is called: win32:Evo-gen [Susp] (It is located in the same folder as the RSA64.dll file).

Hi,
Looks like you had a backdoor infection. I’ll get a remover for you.

Ok, thanks! Will wait for your next post.

Since am not qualified to help you, you’ll have to wait for Essexboy. Which reminds me, need to PM him.

Hi I will need to run another programme to locate the associated registry entry for this, this tool will probably not remove it so I will have to do it manually afterwards

Download and Install Combofix

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here

[*]Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
[*]Accept the disclaimer and allow to update if it asks

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v706/ried7/NSIS_extraction.png

[*]When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
[*]Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

  1. Do not mouse-click Combofix’s window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  2. Do not “re-run” Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
  3. If after the reboot you get errors about programmes being marked for deletion then reboot, that will cure it.

Please make sure you include the combo fix log in your next reply as well as describe how your computer is running now

Hi,

Here is my combofix log. Apart from Avast that keeps notifying me of blocking this RSA64.dll win64:bot-A ][Trj] virus and moving it to the vault I don’t have major performing problems. At least not ones that I am aware of (slow system, weird crashes etc.).

The blocking warning still showed up after I ran Combofix and rebooted my system and then turned on my avast antivirus again.

Thanks for all the help.

OK magic time

  1. Close any open browsers.

  2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Folder:: c:\programdata\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA64

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\shelliconoverlayidentifiers\1CryptoProviderIcons]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{24808826-C2BF-4269-B3BA-89D1D5F431A4}]

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it will produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.

Hi,

Here is my 2nd combofix log. After I did reboot the system and turning on avast again I did not get a popup blocking that virus. I checked the location were RSA64.dll was stored and that file is gone (among others) from that directory. Only Cryptoprovider.dll is left in that location/directory. Is that harmful? I don’t know what kind of file that is so I you think I don’t need it I might delete the whole directory if that is possible.

BTW is it normal that you have to manually reboot the system after combofix ran? It did not start to reboot it automatically so I just did it manually myself.

I think my problem is solved, but I’ll let you check the log file to make sure. If anything strange happens/ a avast message pop ups again within a couple of hours or a day I’ll notify you.

Thanks so much!

Combofix was told to take the entire folder out, tsk

I will do that now using OTL

Warning This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems

Be advised that when the fix commences it will shut down all running processes and you may lose the desktop and icons, they will return on reboot

Run OTL

[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/73555776/OTL_Fix.GIF

:Commands
[CREATERESTOREPOINT]

:Files
c:\programdata\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA64

:Commands
[resethosts]
[emptytemp]
[Reboot]

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done
[*]Open OTL again and click the Quick Scan button. Post the log it produces in your next reply.

Hi,

Here are my OTL logs. _log2 is from the fixrun and _log3 from the last quickscan. I checked the location of RSA64 directory again and finally now the whole directory is gone, which I presume is good news.

Thanks

A little bit of adware to remove and you should be done

The lack of the directory is good

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

[*]Close all open programs and internet browsers.
[*]Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
[*]Click on Scan.
[*]After the scan is complete click on “Clean”
[*]Confirm each time with Ok.
[*]Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
[*]Please post the content of that logfile with your next answer.
[*]You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

Hi,

Hopefully this is my last reply. Hereby the log file.

Thanks again

In that case methinks I will send you on your merry way
