I downloaded a .rar file from P2P network and I was noticed that there was a virus in this archive. I tried to remove it or quarantained it, but it said to me that it can’t perform this action on this type of archive. So, I removed the file. Why Avast couldn’t suppress this file or does not propose to delete the entire archive ?
Probably because the archive was “solid” and contained more files (can you verify it?). In such case, it’s not possible to remove the file from the archive because the archive would have to be recompressed (and the compression algorithm is proprietary).
Only the full (Win)Rar program can do that.
Yes, I removed manually the file from the explorer and I remove it frome the emule queue, but I tried several time in emule before it works and I was affraid my computer was infected.
I make a standard scan without scanning archive and it didn’t find anything. I didn’t made a complete scan with archives because it lasts more than 3 hours instead of 9 minutes in standard mode.
