can´t run avast home

I have installed avast! 4 Home and every time I try to open it in a limited user account of win xp , I get an “error message”, “Application cannot load skin. Function usiGetSkin Failed”. How do I fix this?

i hope someone can help me out

Try a repair of Avast.

control panel > software > add/remove > Avast > change/repair

If that fails use the search function on this board and use “usiGetSkin” as keyword. It will give you many threads that are dealing with this issue. See if one of the solutions also work for you.

i already repair avast but i still can´t open it in the limited user account of win xp, what should i do…

please help me out

Did you installed Avast while you where logged in as ADMINISTRATOR? If not, remove Avast, login as ADMINISTRATOR and install Avast.

And please use the search option on this board. I remember having seen this problem solved in another thread.

i did installed Avast while i was logged in as ADMINISTRATOR. but i still can´t run the program in the limited account…
and i tried to search under the keyword you told me to,but nothing…
what can i do to solve the problem.

From the FAQ pages of Avast’s website:

Q: I have installed avast! 4 Home and every time I try to open it, I get an "unknown error message", "Application cannot load skin. Function usiGetSkin Failed". How do I fix this?

A:
Select START → RUN…
Enter the following command:
If you have Windows NT or 2000:
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\REGSVR32.EXE ACTSKIN4.OCX
If you have Windows 95, 98 or ME:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\REGSVR32.EXE ACTSKIN4.OCX
If you have Windows XP:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\REGSVR32.EXE ACTSKIN4.OCX
Press OK (or Enter).
A message saying that the file was successfully registered should appear.

Results from a search I did can be found HERE

i already tried that…but still i didn`t work…
but i wrote that path in the administrator account and the i did it in the limited account but a got an error message…

what else can i do???

Have you by change ran anything like Spybot s&d, Ad-Aware or Brainbuster or a simulair application? Check if the registry key as mentioned HERE are still on your system.

i have ad-aware installed on my computer but i have´run it two weeks ago…
what´s wrong with the ad-aware

Basicly there is nothing wrong with Ad-Aware, but I’ve seen it happen with applications like that in very rare occasions that it detects some of the Avast registry keys as malware. If a user removes them, thinking he/she fixed a problem, the Avast gui stops working.

You must do and run it into the Administrator account.

Eddy, not Adware but sure SpyBot did this. It was a false alarm.

I know, Brainbot was another that did the same as can be read HERE
That’s why I asked him if he had run such a util and I never said Ad-Aware did that. I said: “applications like that.”

it says something oboutfile not found(orone on its compnents) what do i do nxt?

And your problem is… ?
I never saw you post here in this thread. ???
