I recently upgraded to Avast! version 5, and while I really liked version 4, I am having some serious issues with this new one. It scans continuously, and I can’t find any “off” function. It lags my computer severely and the only way I’ve found is to disable Avast! for long periods of time. (yes, I know it’s not safe!!) Is there any way in which these non-stop scans can be aborted?

Like I said in my first post on this topic…I use Avast! version 5. And I still need to know if there is a way to keep it from scanning non stop. Or, is there a way to go back to the previous version?

Do you have other security sw installed or had it installed?
What is scanning non stop?
The latest version is 5.0.507. Do you use this?
If not, download and install it from scratch.

Never mind…I removed Avast 5.0 version and went back to my 4.8 one. Problem solved.
Hmmm… version 5 is lighter in resources than version 4 in my computer.
Something is fishy on yours. I wouldn’t went back to the version 4. Besides, the support for it will be end someday (by the end of the year?).
Let’s try to solve the problem and not removing the symptoms.
