Usually not.
Generally there isn’t a problem, but some motherboards are very fussy, not just about mixing RAM, but not liking some brands.
For most, ensure that the RAM specifications are the same, e.g. their speed rating or all RAM would default to the slowest speed rating.
what if 1 RAM is 1GB and other is 2GB but both same speed ?
better to have both of same brand then ?
Whilst I don’t believe that they need to be the same size, I do feel that it is better if they are.
I don’t believe that same brand is a must, but given the above of trying to have them the same size, which probably means replacing the old one having them the same brand is a reasonable next step.
There are often good deals on twin sticks of ram Kingston and Crucial provide good value RAM and you can check your motherboard and Crucial RAM are going to be compatible and they guarantee that or will replace them.
Before your post I had never heard of Hynix http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hynix but it is a big company, but they probably make RAM for others.
