In the Avast Free Software updater settings, the second option to automatically allow updates to download silently in the background is ticked (by default). My question is: if I disable this option, will I continue to be notified of new updates to programs? I want to be able to download updates when my network is idle (manually). Hoping someone could help

If you have that option enabled, I don’t thing in the free version it actually does the automatic download or perhaps it downloads it but doesn’t install until, you say to update.
I certainly haven’t had an automatic download and installations, I get a Software Updater pop-up saying an update is available for (X program) and gives two options ‘Install Now’ or ‘No remind me later’ (which is the one I generally choose). I then open the Software Updater and update from there (Fix Now).
