Cannot activate Software Updater

Hello,

I’m using Avast 17.4.2294 on my Windows 10 desktop PC and my Windows 10 laptop. Both are activated with the same Avast account
While the Software updater component is activated and working on my desktop, I cannot activate this component on the laptop. There’s no ‘green’ switch available for it in the settings menu and on the Avast main screen (Protection) it says ‘error’ (clicking refresh doesn’t help either).
Any ideas where to look and how to solve this?

Hello,

Thanks for the advice. However I had to completely un-install and re-install Avast from scratch, to enable the Software Updater. My guess is that Windows Defender was bugging here…
Anyway, it works again now.

Similar issue with Avast Online Security browser add-on not showing up for install on one of my systems. Had to double-check feature was enabled and then run Repair to fix.
