I’m not sure if this if the right forum/not, if not, I apologize.
Usually my comfuser boots-up & is ready to go w/in 35-40 seconds (not too bad), but since Sunday it boots to the desktop but just hangs & I cannot do anything for about 30 seconds after the desktop shows. After that, all is working just fine.
The last program that was installed is GIMP 2.8 on 5/15.
I have & ran Avast Internet Security v7.0.1426 & what was found is in the attached pic. 1st, I’m not sure what to do w/these files b/c I don’t find much info on the web, but the bigger problem is that the APPLY button is not activating.
I also ran Malwarebytes & the result is also attached. Can anyone tell me what my next step needs to be?
The Apply button is not activated because no infected files have been found.
According to the avast! report, you have a hardware problem with the hard drive. That may also be the reason for the slowdown - Windows (or the drive itself maybe) is unsuccessfully retrying to read a file, hoping repeated attempts will get the correct data eventually.
So I’m afraid my advice is to quickly back up your data (somewhere else) and get a new drive.
I also get this error whenever I try to run regedit.exe (using either Standard / Admin. accounts):
“The application was unable to run correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.”
