Hi people,
Since yesterday, I can’t boot my Win7 system even in safe mode.
I managed to launch the repair mode and run FRST (txt attached).
Please help.

there should be a additional.txt log also
Essexboy will be online after work …so some hours to wait
There wasn’t any additionnal, FRST didn’t have the option.
Hi,
I answered quickly earlier because I lacked of time.
Thanks for your quick answer Pondus; when I launched FRST, I noticed there wasn’t the “Addition.txt” checkbox.
Maybe I used an old version. If necessary, I’ll try to run it again once I’ll get back home.
I hope there are enough info on the actual file.

FRST only produces one log from the recovery console.
Did this occur after a windows update ?
Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Start FRST and press fix
On completion try a normal boot
Hi,
Thanks for you help; sadly no success…
Still stuck at the loading screen.

There was a windows 7 update that has borked some systems. I will remove all Avast drivers and services
Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Start FRST and press fix
On completion try a normal boot
Hi,
Many thanks for your time.
I just tried the fixlist but sadly still no luck.
I’m preparing to reinstall Windows…
Just for the intel, a friend of mine just called because she cannot send emails (NB connect error 1460).
I deactivated Avast (she has an Avast Pro license) and the email are sent successfully.
I must say that with those two problems at the same time, I begin questionning the use of Avast on all my computers (I’ve been using without troubles for years).
Despite that, I really appreciate what you do on this forum by helping people !
If you have any other idea in my case, I’ll be glad to hear.
Best regards,
pgmillon
The e-mail problem may be due to the Avast certification https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=161298.msg1155802#msg1155802
Hi,
For the email problem, an update seem to have solve the problem.
Back to my boot problem, I’m running some disk checks before reinstalling.
You pointed that it might come from a Win update but I configured the system to disable any automatic system update so that seems odd…

Where does safe mode halt now ?
Hi,
The safe mode hungs on disk.sys.
I performed a bad-blocks using a live USB and there are 191 bad blocks on the drive.
I think that’s a lot, but I can’t figure out how bad it is.
Regards,
From the recovery console command prompt run the following command :
chkdsk c: /x
Hi,
Thanks, I’ve be running chkdsk since this morning.
I’ll tell you once finished.

Hi,
After hours of running, here’s the chkdsk.txt.
Computer still doesn’t boot though… ![]()

I just tried to start in safe mode : disk.sys is loaded but the following classpnp.sys hungs…
Unfortunately it looks like a re-install is the next step
