I am trying to activate the Anti-Theft functions for my Polaroid Tablet Model PMID1000B after installing Avast Mobile Security and I keep getting a failure message every time I try to connect to my account at https://my.avast.com as follows:
“Could not connect to Google Cloud to Device Messaging (ACCOUNT_MISSING). Please make sure that your Google account is setup correctly.”
I was not entirely certain Anti-Theft would work on a tablet due to not having SMS, but was hoping it would function through the web portal. Any fix for this?
After doing some reading, it seems this may have something to do with Google deprecating the C2DM service and migration to their new GCM service instead. Would really like to hear something from someone in the know as to whether Tablets can effectively utilize the Anti-Theft functions of Avast. I know the software will install and run on my Tablet, but that means nothing if the device can’t communicate through the web portal to receive remote commands apart from SMS.
I have since discovered that I did not have Google Talk setup on my Tablet. Google Talk is now working and Avast Anti-Theft has connected. Problem solved. Thank you!
