cannot connect to server

using beta 5.1.807, last updated 2:35pm definition version 101212-1, just tried to update manual and said cannot connect to server, is this a problem or is the server busy? thanks for any respond.

You have the latest virus definitions.

I wouldn’t worry about it on the first occasion, if it were a regular occurrence I would ensure that the firewall allows avast.setup as that would probably have changed after the 5.1.807 update. Though I doubt that as obviously it has worked before, since the beta refresh update.

No problem connecting here, I have just tried it.

I’ve had the same issue for two days. All my other connected apps work fine. Firewall is fully open to Avast 5. Running XP-32 Pro fully updated (except for Avast, of course).

Are you still using the beta version? You should be posting this question in the beta forum section if you are.

If might try doing an Avast Repair to see if this fixes your problem:

  • Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Avast Antivirus.
  • Scroll down and choose Repair function in the pop-up window.
  • Reboot.
