Cannot delete two from the virus chest

I appreciate that I do not have to delete from the virus chest as they are safe whilst in there but I am a tidy person and I want to delete these two.
You will see from the attachment that they are IDP.Generic but refuse to be deleted.
Any help would be appreciated.
I must add that this is the free version of AVAST

Try repair and reboot? https://support.avast.com/en-eu/article/Repair-Antivirus

Any change?

Why can’t they be deleted, e.g. are you getting an error message displayed ?

Are you able to any of the other options in the virus chest ?
I would suggest try sending it to avast for analysis.

@ Ron130

I have run a test on my win10 system which has Avast! free 19.4.2374 installed and I got a little surprise, there was already a file in the chest (same IDP.Generic, image1 attached).

The surprise being, that I rarely run on-demand scans and this didn’t come from an on-demand scan or I would have known about the detection. However the detection was reported as 18 Oct 2017 and I can’t recall this. I believe it is likely to have come from a Behaviour Shield detection. This too is a surprise as I received no avast alert and I’m sure I would have at least investigated it.

Since I had a file in the chest I could check and see if the action I suggested would work and it didn’t ‘! Something went wrong. Please try again’ (image2 attached).

Was this the error that you got ?

EDIT: I have just updated to the latest version of avast! free 19.5.2378 and the error still occurs. It could be an issue with all submissions not just from the virus chest.

Hi DavidR,

the problem in your case is that the detection content was removed and therefore it’s failing.

PDI

OK, but if the detection content was removed (I assume you mean it is an FP) the message given is very incorrect/misleading.

Which brings me on to another point, there is no option in the drop down list to rescan within the virus chest as there used to be some time ago.

There is no way I would consider moving anything out of the chest without confirmation it is no longer detected.

EDIT: Also how does this effect the original poster (Ron130) trying to delete the file from the chest. That if for the same reason would leave the file trapped in the virus chest as the Deletion function didn’t work for this user.

EDIT2: I have just tried Deletion from the chest and although it process, seeking confirmation, answered Yes, but the file remains in the virus chest.
