I’ve told you (and Eddy) already to uninstall Avast or Avira and see wheter it solves problem.

Tried uninstalling from the control panel method, didn’t work. Downloaded aswclear, booted safe mode and tried again, stuck at the same path as before at "Launching executable file: C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\wsc_proxy.exe /svc /unregister /firewall. Which has been more than 30 mins

Remove avast manually.

A few files were left which couldn’t be deleted saying it’s open somewhere…Restarted again and only a file is still left which is cannot be deleted.

Please post FRST logs again. Do you still have problems with downloads?

  • Go to File → Save As and save it as fixlist.txt on Desktop
  • Open again FRST and click on button Fix
  • Wait until FRST finishes
  • fixlog.txt should be genereted and opened. Attach it your post and wait further instructions.

Avast is now removed.You can try to temporaly disable or uninstall Avira to see whter it solves problem. If not try with reinstalling Chrome.
