Help! i can't even download the free program, must less the Avast professional i purchased! i keep getting a error report. (error 301?) Obviously i'm a newbie, but have no idea where to start. i did turn off my other antivirus program. :-[
use avast uninstaller

uninstall your previous anti-virus program and reinstall avast after you use avast uninstaller
Completed uninstall, still not able to download…
I hit download, hit RUN for Avast pro set up,
I says ‘program needs your permission to continue’
i hit Continue
Avast Setup - I hit NEXT
Get Error setup message. ???
How were you downloading, browser save as or using a download manager or were you trying to download and install in one movement ?
Don’t uninstall you other AV first, download and save the full installation file first or you would be going on-line with no protection, not advisable.
Only when you have download the latest version of avast Pro http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-professional.html, scroll down to the English version, not the Cnet or Universal installation file, but the English file. Save that to your hard disk where you can find it again and disconnect from the internet.
Uninstall your current AV, disabling it isn’t enough.
Reboot.
It may be worth while running the Uninstall utility mentioned in the above post and reboot.
Install the avast Pro version.
