I am having trouble figuring out how to set up BitComet’s options to use Avast! 5 to autoscan files that I may download. I used many previous versions without any problem before by simply pointing the antivirus path to ashquick.exe but since I have upgraded to Avast!5 that no longer works. I have also tried pointing the path to AvastUI.exe but all that seems to do is to open the user interface of avast but it does not scan anything. If anyone has figured out how to resolve this issue please throw me a bone here because all I can use right now for my autoscan purposes is a spyware detector…lol. Also let me apologize beforehand if this issue has already been addressed. I tried searching the forum but I did not see anything pertaining to this particular issue although I could have missed it. Thank You for your time.
It works, it just doesn’t display results unless it detects something. Provided you gave the full path to ashQuick.exe in avast5. C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\ashQuick.exe (for XP, differs for vista, win7)
If you have the P2P shield enabled and BitCommet (I presume the hBitCommet of the title is a typo) is listed as a supported P2P application, then avast should be scanning the p2p traffic ?
If the above is correct (I don’t use P2P at all), this would mean any ashquick scan would be duplication.
