Cannot get rid of Kaspersky

I used to have this antivirus program, which expired, and now I think there might be a virus attached to it. I scanned it using avast, and it came up clean. However, I cannot delete it or get rid of it - every time I try to do so, my computer asks to reboot, which causes it to crash. I then have to start it in Safe Mode, go through recovery, which asks me to delete avast. Avast has been the only antivirus I have been able to use because it did not ask me to restart my computer - Norton and everything else has done this and made it crash. Does Kaspersky have a virus?!? How do I get rid of it??

Thanks!

Thank you, but that does not work. Every time I try to remove it in any shape or form, which requires a reboot, my computer crashes. I have scanned it, tried to fix it, I just cannot get rid of it.

Download an run this:

If it doesn’t work, run it again in safe mode.

Thank you for the info. I ran it in safe mode, said it was deleted, asked to reboot, and crashed again. :frowning: I don’t know what to do with this thing.

Download/update/run free Mbam.

Post the log here.

After doing the MBAM scan, you can also check for remnants of Kaspersky by going into Safe Mode > Search > All Files and Folders > Advanced Settings > type in KAV or KIS (the name of the product you used) > and search for anything that comes up related to Kaspersky. If in doubt, right click the file that comes up for Properties to see if it is related to Kaspersky and if so, you can delete it. KAV/KIS is very stubborn to remove. Empty your recycle bin in Safe Mode, then reboot.
