I had avast but it ran out so I tired to download the new one. It says my BFE service is not running. So I looked around other forums and websites and reinstalled it along with the Windows Firewall but I cannot start the service.
I’ve tried loads of things advised my loads of people but nothing seems to be working. I’m also not completely technical savvy so I may need everything to be broken down in small steps

What avast version?
Is/was there any other anti malware on the system?
Why not just got a new license?
This is where I went. I clicked download and when it came to installing it, it just said the Base Filtering Engine Service is not running. Ensure it is enabled before installing Avast.
The BFE wasn’t in my Local Services so I added it back but it says I have been denied permission to start it
The problem can be caused by malware.

It was a malaware issue…after all that. Thank you very much. As soon as I had run the program and contained all the problems, the firewall and BFE were working again.
