I am now on Nougat 7.1. I cannot locate my Motorola XT1039, nor get any data from it on my.avast.com. This worked until before upgrading from Android 6.0.
I have re-installed Avast anti-theft and mobile security, and paid £6.99 for a yearly subscription. However, all data on the website relates to the mobile’s state before the upgrade, and there is no mention of my subscription. I have checked that the mobile is set to allow background data exchanges for avast apps.
I can use another mobile to send a text message to locate my Motorola, and that still works OK.
I also deleted my device from my account. But it does not re-register. I also followed everything you did.
I only saw it today, but my device responded only last year sometime.
I also deleted all application data en configured it all over. That’s effectively a reinstall.
I kept having problems with this, on and off, and eventually gave up. This needs to be 100% reliable otherwise it is useless. So I’m now using a different anti-theft app which has, so far, worked perfectly. It’s a shame that avast seem unable to make this reliable (I am on the pro - paid - version). People say there are too many variations to test, but other suppliers seem to have an approach that works.
Can i ask what anti-theft app you are now using please?
I was 100% an Avast fan and Beta tester and in the last 12 months Avast Anti-Theft has become unreliable and unusable.
I’m very tempted to jump ship as the anti-theft app is the main reason i use Avast…and it doesn’t work.
Not happy.
I’m using Cerberus - recommended to me by people on other forums. It isn’t free, but does the job for me - I make no promises about whether it works for anyone else!
I hope it works for you! I tested, in the trial period, to make sure it worked by SMS or data location even if the phone was locked, and it did, unlike avast.
