Cannot locate phone after upating to Nougat

I am now on Nougat 7.1. I cannot locate my Motorola XT1039, nor get any data from it on my.avast.com. This worked until before upgrading from Android 6.0.

I have re-installed Avast anti-theft and mobile security, and paid £6.99 for a yearly subscription. However, all data on the website relates to the mobile’s state before the upgrade, and there is no mention of my subscription. I have checked that the mobile is set to allow background data exchanges for avast apps.

I can use another mobile to send a text message to locate my Motorola, and that still works OK.

Help!

I deleted the device from my account, reconnected from my mobile, and now it works.

Hi

I also deleted my device from my account. But it does not re-register. I also followed everything you did.
I only saw it today, but my device responded only last year sometime.
I also deleted all application data en configured it all over. That’s effectively a reinstall.

Help!!

I’ve no idea - sorry. Mine re-registered pretty well straight away. You do have mobile data on, and avast properly installed?

Same here, and paid for pro version.

Cannot add it to my devices… it’s installed on my samsung, so how do you add it?

I don’t use email on my phone… why can’t I add it? You can’t add the phone to the account from the phone.

Trying it from the windows interface just sends an email or installs the app.

Not happy…

Greg

I kept having problems with this, on and off, and eventually gave up. This needs to be 100% reliable otherwise it is useless. So I’m now using a different anti-theft app which has, so far, worked perfectly. It’s a shame that avast seem unable to make this reliable (I am on the pro - paid - version). People say there are too many variations to test, but other suppliers seem to have an approach that works.

Can i ask what anti-theft app you are now using please?
I was 100% an Avast fan and Beta tester and in the last 12 months Avast Anti-Theft has become unreliable and unusable.
I’m very tempted to jump ship as the anti-theft app is the main reason i use Avast…and it doesn’t work.
Not happy.

I’m using Cerberus - recommended to me by people on other forums. It isn’t free, but does the job for me - I make no promises about whether it works for anyone else!

Thank you
Happy to pay if it works.

Avast Anti-theft binned off, Cerebus installed and paid for: thank you

I hope it works for you! I tested, in the trial period, to make sure it worked by SMS or data location even if the phone was locked, and it did, unlike avast.
