Cannot Log Into Secure Site

I have an account on a Canadian government website that I need to periodically access. It is a secure site (https://). I can load the page without any issues, but when I supply my login credentials, the screen does a visible refresh and looks exactly the same; no login occurs. I’ve tried with Avast SecureLine VPN active and disabled with the same results both times. When I use Microsoft Edge, there are no issues with logging into the same site.

Sorry to hear that! Unfortunately we have few issues with page blocking and we should resolve this in the following 2 weeks.
As temporary solution please try to disable AdBlock and Anti-Fingerprinting on that site (in Security & Privacy Center - secure://security-privacy-center/). If this also does not help, please let me know.
