Cannot login with default credentials -- Solved

We have one application using either 2000 or 2005 sql server express, plus Avast. We have 2003 SBS and XP Pro.

I just installed ADNM and I cannot login with the default credentials, user=Administrator, pass=admin. I get the error “unable to login as Administrator or connection error”

Does the login denial point to a database error? I’ve tried …

Uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, & maintenance …

CheckDB = success
Edit SQL \ Test = success
Delete & Create = success

These services exist and are started
Mirror Http Server
AMS
MSSQL$Avast
SQL Server Browser
SQL Server VSS Writer
SQL Agent$Avast

The antivirus event viewer has no warnings or errors.

There are these paths …
C:\program files\Microsoft SQL Server\80
C:\program files\Microsoft SQL Server\90
C:\program files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$Avast
C:\program files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1
C:\program files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.2

I’ve deleted the MSSQL$Agent before reinstalling. What are the MSSQL.1 and MSSSQL.2?

Q1) How do I log in?
Q2) Is there any telephone support for installation?

I’ll try soon to post the
C:\programfiles\alwil software\management tools\data\logs\error.log

Well, I tried one last install, and this time it worked for some reason.

The only things I did different were

  1. Generate a 2 year certificate, instead of a 3 year certificate.
  2. Press both “import” and “demo” buttons on the license screen.
(Or it might have been load and import)
