I archive my emails by saving the .msg files from Outlook. After I installed Avast, I can no longer open them. When I double-click, nothing happens. Possibly. It looks like the Avast add-in is the problem Add-in. Does anyone know how I can enable the capability to manually open the .msg files without having to turn-off the Avast add-in?
I just tested opening .msg files with Outlook 2003 with the avast plugin for Outlook active.
When I double click the file it opens in Outlook and the avast spalsh screen shows briefly. It works for me with the Outlook pugin set to normal or high sensitivity. Do you have any other customized setting on the plugin?
When you right click on the properties of the .msg file does it say that it will open with Outlook?
Thanks for posting a reply, alanrf. I also see the splash screen, but the file doesn’t open, even though the file is correctly associated with Outlook. I disabled the plugin temporarily to test, and the file opened.
Having spent some time in another thread looking at Outlook plugin issues can I ask you to let us know which plugins you have enabled in your Outlook 2003?
