Cannot open one website since upgrade of Avast and Microsoft

After a recent update by Avast and also Microsoft, I can no longer open the website for AARP. Not through any link or by doing a search and trying to open a link from there. What do I need to do to see if an update cut off my ability to go to one website?

An update of anything shouldn’t specifically block one website, unless said website was infected.

So are you getting any alerts by avast when trying to visit the site ?
If so can you attach a screenshot of the alert.

You say that you have also updated Microsoft, what do you mean by that ?
If you mean that you are also using Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), then two resident security applications can conflict, but that said, I rather doubt that would result in this type of occurrence.

What is the website ?
Do you mean aarp.org or aarp.net, as I have no problem connecting to that.

AARP.org

I just tried Internet Explorer and I can access it from there, but still get a few glitches or errors to access when clicking on a link. No, I have all of Microsoft security disabled. I’ve used Avast for many years, and not the free one. It’s the Microsoft programs that were updated. I noticed a disabling of links one by one until I was unable to open AARP in any way. I have been using Google Chrome without any issues.

It's the Microsoft programs that were updated.
did you reboot after update .... if not, try

any change?

Did that. Puzzled and frustrated. It will be interesting to see if the same happens with IE. I haven’t run a reboot scan for over a month. Time to do that tonight. Any thoughts are welcome.

boot scan is not meant to be used as a regular scanner....

I use it when things don’t work right and I’ve exhausted options. Avast did stop something a few weeks back, and I didn’t think about it again. Just talking it out here has made me remember that, so it’s time to run that deep scan.

The scan produced results. Everything is working fine.
