I cannot enable all shields either from Menu settings or R click on tray icon. Tried repair on secure browser and premium security but no success. All this because if Avast is active, then there is no internet access, this fault occurred intermittently and now is permanent. So I disabled shields which allowed internet but cannot enable them now. Suggestions welcome.
Have you tried a simple system restart ?
I’m not sure what you mean by this
Tried repair on secure browser and premium security
Repair from any browser won’t effect the shields only the browser (assuming it has that function).
Thanks for your reply. Tried system and modem restart. In case there was corruption in P Security, tried repair also with browser. Cannot turn on firewall either. Smart scan and boot scan shows no issues nor does Malwarebytes.
Sorry, have to leave this for now. Will come back tis pm. Thanks
Have you tried a Repair from -
Windows Programs/Apps and Features - Avast Antivirus - Uninstall (don’t panic, it doesn’t do this immediately). You will now get 3 options, choose the Repair Option.
Allow it to complete, you shouldn’t need to do a Restart.
Thanks David. This is the method I used to repair Premium but it did not work. I tried this twice previously. Have just now tried again and needed to do a restart. On restart, warning that it is in Passive mode. Turned on protection and immediately, notified that firewall is off, turned on firewall and noted shields are on. So all now OK. My suspicion, but not verified, is that the previous repairs were done with no internet available (this repair had Internet available) but not sure if an offline repair is available. Many thanks for your help.
You’re welcome.
Hi David,
Your Conversation Helped A Lot To Me, Thanks For Your Efforts. - godrejtiara.info
Glad it was useful for you, thanks for the feedback
Only two hiccups. Now can only access Bank Mode via secure browser, ( Customise and Control via three dots top right in Secure Browser ) Control B does not work and R click task icon does not include option to open Bank Mode window. Since system working OK will not do another repair just yet.
Unfortunately I have zero experience on the Avast Secure Browser. Firefox is my default browser.
Generally I don’t use Chrome or Chromium based browsers, which the Avast Secure Browser code is based on.
Though I do have Opera as a fall back - Opera web browser is based on Chromium code. Though I can count the number of times I have used it on one hand.
@David743 If you still have an issue with Avast Secure Browser, maybe best you post in this section: Avast Secure Browser - Avast Community
Thanks for the advice. I have been using Avast for many years but have not visited this forum for some time. So I was surprised by the different format, probably would have used Avast Secure Browser if I had been more used to the new forum.
