Cannot renew registration or reinstall in Windows 7

My wife’s laptop runs Windows 7 home premium with I3 and 4GO RAM. Her subscription to Avast free ran out and will not renew. I tried to reinstall a downloaded latest version of Avast free but that caused 2 windows crashes.
I then uninstalled Avast and tried to install Avast free and got repeated 'install error '. Here is the Shasta install error report.

What do I do?

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
