I always rescan downloaded files, however, Avast IS 7.0.1466 reports it cannot scan many files packed within the Adobe Flash Player update executable, install_flashplayer11x32_mssd_au_aih.exe. Most of the unscanned files bear the file extensions png, gif, js, and XML. May I proceed to install it safely, or wait for a fix from Avast? I don’t think OS or PC should matter, but mine is Windows 7 SP1 running on Intel (R) Core ™, i7-2600 CPU, 3.40GHz, 16 GM RAM
Also, here’s a tip…the Adobe FP Update comes with McAfee, so don’t forget to uncheck it during an install if you do not want it, or it will be awful to completely uninstall.
“Some files could not be scanned. Select the required action for each result and click ‘Apply’” which offers the standard Repair, Move to Chest, Delete, and Do Nothing Choices.
Then the Status for each file is: “Error. Archive if password protected. (42056).”
Then the Status for each file is: "Error. Archive if password protected. (42056)."
this is normal with adobe
many programs protect there files with passwords, usually security programs but also others
and files that can not be scanned are just that, no more no less. it does not mean they are infected
avast is just reporting a scan error and will not take any action on not infected files
