Today I uninstalled AVG 8.0 and installed Avast 4.8. Since installing Avast, I cannot send any emails.
I use the latest version of Thunderbird as an email handler, and I have three outgoing mail server accounts channeled through godaddy. (using Windows XP)
The error message is that Thunderbird failed to connect to my outgoing server (failed to connect to smtpout.secureserver.net)
I had no problem sending mail this morning; problem began when I installed Avast. Any suggestions?
We have seen Godaddy issues before (please feel free to use the search option at the top of the forum for Godaddy).
Can you please tell us the details of the SMTP entry (or entries) that you have set up for Thunderbird to send mail to Godaddy servers. Specifically the port used and the security setting. Please be careful not to disclose any personal email account information.
Thanks.
My godaddy smtp settings:
port: 80
outgoing server: smtpout.secureserver.net
use name and password: yes
use secure connection: no
Please feel free to read the whole thread …
but see this post.
If you continue to have concerns please let us know.
Ok, let me make sure I understand correctly.
I leave the WebShield redirected http setting at 80.
I change my outgoing server port to 3535.
These settings allow me to send mail, but I want to make sure the WebShield port remains at 80.
Thanks!
That is the configuration that will work for mail and for the Webshield.
Glad you are up and running with avast.
